Tips for Selling your Home
- Start from the outside. After all, this is the first thing a potential buyer will see.
- Trim any unruly shrubs, make sure the lawn is neatly cut, and repair any broken doors, hinges, rails, etc.
- A fresh coat of paint may also go a long way both inside and out.
- Once inside, survey all rooms for any peeling wallpaper, chipped paint, leaky faucets, etc.
- Repair anything you can and replace anything you can't.
- Think Spring! Clean your house from top to bottom like its never been cleaned before.
- Consider renting a storage locker for any items cluttering your home which you don't use on a regular basis.
- Advertise! In the paper, at the grocery store, at OxfordCountyListings.com. Anywhere that will catch the attention of potential buyers.
- Plan on frequent open houses and make yourself readily available to show your home on a moments notice.
- When having an open house, make sure the house is tidy, all pets are contained, and if possible, make arrangements for out of home care for children.
- Have several printed copies of your web page to hand out to potential buyers.
- Be sure to have recent tax notices, gas and hydro bills available to show if requested.
